Time for a change & refocus!!

Well never ended up following thru with the whole marathon thing as work & motherhood proved enough for me. I do still have a gym membership. I won't divulge how much use thats getting though. But I'm currently still at my pre-pregnancy weight & even a little less, so I'd say I must have been doing something right all this time. Whether not having enough time to eat at times or money being tight having anything to do with it, will be my secret that I'll take to the grave, LOL.

So for a long time I've been itching to get my creative spirit going and find a way to make money for my family doing something I love & enjoy. While its been good to me for the most part over the years, my degree in Economics & Business isn't exciting me and doesn't fulfill me. For a long time now I've wanted to become an interior decorator as its something I feel and have been told I'm good at but its hard to have the time or figure out the right way to get into it without not working my "real" job. But I'm not getting any younger and Julian is growing up so fast already so I need to get a move on and stop being afraid. I may not have the schooling for this but hey most creative types that end up doing this kind of thing dont either, they just do it! So I'm going to get cards made up, thru my favorite stationary site: http://www.tinyprints.com/; put them up at local shops in my area, post my plans on facebook & twitter, link this blog and hope that some of my friends or friends of friends will help get my feet wet and slowly get some connections going. Maybe it won't take off that fast, but I'll never know 'till I try right?

Wish me luck & any suggestions are appreciated. Stay tuned for some pics of projects around the house that might showcase my talent abit. Keep in mind that money being an issue, I did the best I could with my resources. But the vision was soley mine and with the proper materials/resources & money I could really transform a space!

Since when do I like to run?

Well I used to literally hate running and now after having a baby something has changed with me, and I suddenly have a strong desire to run. So I am going to register for the Beach to Beacon 10K marathon that takes place in August. So this wkend will mark the start of my "training". We shall see how that goes. Maybe in the spring I can take my little guy out with me in the stroller to make it abit more enjoyable. I will keep you all posted on my progress. I don't have any shame about the possibility that I might be one of those cool people that "walk" it part of the time. The fact that I'm even thinking about attempting this item on newly revised bucket list is a feat in and of itself! LOL

10 WAYS FOR 2010 TO STAY STYLISH, SANE & SATISFIED (in your home & with yourself)

Since it's 2010 figured it would be fitting to give 10 ideas. So here it goes. What works brillantly for me may not for you but at least you may get a laugh out of some of them or use some & trash the rest. Happy New Years mates!

1) Keep the lights low & of a dim nature so your furniture remains looking pretty & new despite the repeated attempts by your baby & pets to ruin them by spitting up, puking or leaving other bodily fluids to fester. NEVER turn the overhead lights on unless absolutely necessary.

2) One word: TARGET

3) Make time for reading

4) At least once a week, lock the bathroom door and stop feeling guilty about taking the time to fully pamper oneself with pedicure, plucking, etc.; instead of the normal rushed shower.

5) Allow an occasional shopping splurge. Especially if its a classic piece that you can keep in your warddrobe season in & season out, regardless of trends. Or just something that totally makes you happy & feel like you look like a million bucks.

6) Instead of trying to get everything done & put away every night, just let it go sometimes and snuggle a little extra with your baby/kids. That feeling you get from that helps erase the guilt & angst re. undone chores.

7) Watch some trashy reality TV. 9 times out of 10 its bound to make you feel way better about yourself by comparison.

8) Exercise a few times a week. Even if its just a few extra trips up & down the stairs (only takes a few minutes). It's good for you health & self-esteem.

9) Champagne :)

10) Fries w/melted extra sharp cheddar dipped in ranch dressing & some Coke. Ymmmm!
